My second favorite episode in the Simpsons franchise is the fifth episode of the third season of the Simpsons. The episoded aired on October 17 1991. The main plot of the episode was when Homer Simpson accidentally saved the power plant from a nuclear disaster and people started to congradulate him from saving the town. Meanwhile, Bart wasn't invited to Milhouse's birthday party which causes a rivalry between the two kids.
In addition to all of the fame and glory Homer Simpson is getting, he get's a phone call by Magic Johnson congradulating him. This episode was the first episode to have a professional athlete featured in the show. This episode wasn't as creative as the Who Shot Mr Burns episode but is was still as enjoyable.

After watching this episode multiple times, I concluded that this is my second favorite episode because of the following characteristics of this episode
My favorite aspect of this episode is how Homer was very humble and not letting his newly found popularity get into his head. This goes against Homer's general character because he's not known to be very humble and gets way to cocky over the smallest things that happen.
My second favorite aspect of this episode is how powerful Bart and Milhouse's friendship is. Although Milhouse's mom doesn't let Bart hangout with him, eventually in the end of the episode, they get back together and celebrate their rebuilt friendship
I'm not all that crazy with pop culture these days, I occasionally like to see famous athletes or popular actors getting featured in Simpsons episodes. I really liked how they kind of made fun of Magic Johnson by making him accidentally make a basket by tripping on the floor and accidentally hitting the refree on the head with the ball.
After watching this episode, I was impressed with how straight forward and simple this episode was, I enjoyed every second of this episode and I was belly laughing through some of the parts. I would overall reccomend that you watch this episode. I would rank this episode at a hearty 9/10 rating.
